Dear Colleagues we are pleased to invite you to attend the workshop "Carbonate RockPhysics: The Good, the Bad, and the Unknown" which will be held on June 8that the 2009 EAGE annual conference in Amsterdam, Holland.

In this workshop, we hope to highlight significant advances in linking geophysical observables to carbonate rock properties. We seek to showcase both the state-of-the-art methods in relating the macroscopic rock properties as seen by geophysical observables to microstructural features and the integration of these observations into business applications. We aim to promote discussion among technical experts (geologists, engineers, rock physicists and geophysicists) both from industry and research institutions about fundamental issues in carbonate rock physics. If you are interested in sharing your ideas and work, please consider to submit an extended abstract to this event. You are also welcome to consider joining us as a participant without making a contribution. Currently, the workshop is planed as oral only, but a poster session islikely to be developed. Interested members of the community are encouraged to submit abstracts addressing topics relevant to carbonate rock physics from experimental, theoretical, logging, computational/modeling to field data. The deadline for submitting an abstract is February 28th, 2009. The body of the extended abstract needs to be four pages in length.

For additional information about the workshop, please visit the official website at: http://www.eage.org/events/index.php?evp=2079&ActiveMenu=26&Opendivs=s2,s14,s15#

Further details will be made available as the agenda is finalized. Thank you for forwarding this mail to any of your colleagues who might be interested in this event.

Best regards
Tiziana Vanorio, Stanford University
Gregor Baechle, ExxonMobil Research Company
Ludmila Adam, Colorado School of Mines
