Geopressure: Prediction, Analysis, Application, Appraisal and Assessment for E&P – Houston, Texas (February 27- March 1)
New for 2007 in the SCA line up of courses, this is a highly comprehensive Geopressure course using models of geology, rock-mechanics and hydrodynamics to predict and appraise subsurface Geopressure. Learn the methods to evaluate your prospect risk!!!

Taught by one of the world’s leading Geopressure prediction specialists Selim Shaker, Ph.D., this is your opportunity to gain the knowledge to QC that next critical well.

Multiple Bischke Plot Analysis – Application of Logbust™ - Houston, Texas (March 15 - 16)
One of the most powerful techniques available to validate seismic and well log correlations, analyze growth, distinguish faults from unconformities or to locate sequence boundaries – MBPA – Learn the “Power of the Plot”. MBPA is a graphical method for comparing correlations of multiple wells for differences in growth rate and missing sections prior to generating prospects or completing regional or field-wide interpretation. Use Logbust™ to identify and resolve correlation problems, locate sequence boundaries, identify subtle stratigraphic traps, distinguish faults from unconformities (in well logs), determine the timing of faults or structural growth and more.

With little additional work, the computer program and MBPA ensure that an interpretation is consistent with the correlations. Logbust™ had been shown to reduce project cycle time with increased interpretation accuracy. Learn from SCA’s Chief Geologist Mr. Joe Brewton.

Key Highlighted Upcoming Courses:

For May, June and July we have a most exciting line-up of geophysical courses, second to none. Take a moment to review the highlighted course descriptions below and check out our other courses as well. We are confident that we have the training program you need to improve your skills, find new resources of oil and gas and generate profits for your company. Register on-line today!!!

Seismic Survey Design, Acquisition and Processing
Houston, Texas (May 14-18) – Dr. Mangat Thapar
The appropriate design, acquisition and processing of a 3-D seismic survey is vital to the success of any oil and gas exploration and development program. Live demonstrations of design using OMNI, acquisition using Cirrus board, I/O Sensors, and processing using VISTA are included to help participants grasp the subject matter. By the end of the course, participants will be able to contribute to the effective planning, execution and quality control of seismic data acquisition and processing.

Dr. Mangat Thapar is one of the leading experts in geophysical survey design in addition to interpretation and attribute analysis. Learn from one of our industry leaders.

Geopressure and Pore Pressure Prediction Fundamentals
London, England (May 21) – Dr. Selim Shaker
Following Dr. Shaker’s successful course offering in Houston, Texas earlier this year, the course is now being offered in London, England. This one day course is essential for every technical professional involved in exploration, risk assessment, development, monitoring and production of oil and gas. Sealing integrity and hydrocarbon retention capacity of a prospective structural closure are the consequence of the subsurface geopressure compartmentalization. Successful drilling to the targeted formation is a result of accurate prediction of pore – fracture pressure and the drilling tolerance window.

Geopressure: Prediction, Analysis, Application, Appraisal, and Risk Assessments for Exploration & Production
London, England (May 21) – Dr. Selim Shaker
This is a highly comprehensive Geopressure course using models of geology, rock-mechanics and hydrodynamics to predict and appraise subsurface Geopressure. Learn the methods to evaluate your prospect risk!!!

Taught by one of the world’s leading Geopressure prediction specialists, Selim Shaker, Ph.D., this is your opportunity to gain the knowledge to Quality Control that next critical well.

Quick Look Techniques From Prospect Evaluation Through Reserves Estimation
Houston, Texas (May 30-31) – Mr. Joe Brewton
Don't be too quick to drill that next dry hole. Success is not the result of serendipity, but is based on solid scientific work. This course addresses the need for a systematic approach for quickly screening interpretations, maps, prospects and potential resources or reserves and identifying fundamental interpretation, mapping and estimating errors. The reverse application of methods and techniques as presented in our courses such as Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping and Advance Structural Geology is the core of this course. The most common errors found on subsurface interpretations and maps are illustrated with numerous examples from around the world.

Petroleum Geology of Deepwater (Turbidite) Depositional Systems
Houston, Texas (June 4-8) – Dr. Roger Slatt
Deepwater (turbidite) reservoirs constitute one of the last great frontiers in oil and gas exploration. Learn about turbidite from some of the top industry experts. New technologies and a rapidly evolving understanding of these systems are largely responsible for the many recent exploration and development successes. This five-day course examines all aspects of deepwater depositional systems from exploration through discovery, appraisal and development phases.

Taught by one of the world’s leading industry experts in Deepwater (Turbidite) Depositional Systems, Dr. Roger Slatt.

AVO and Seismic Attributes
Houston, Texas (June 11-15) – Dr. Mangat Thapar
The understanding and application of AVO and attribute analysis is vital to any seismically driven exploration or development program. Learn from one of the industry's top geophysicists - Dr. Mangat Thapar. This course is a MUST for all geoscientists who utilize seismic data in their interpretations. Using Microsoft's Excel, Mathcad and VISTA software, Dr. Thapar will demonstrate key principles and pitfalls related to AVO and seismic attribute analysis including the suitability of seismic data for analysis, preserving amplitudes, properly modeling AVO/AVA and attribute response and matching the predicted response with seismic data and avoiding pitfalls. These principles control the success or failure of AVO and seismic attributes and with it the potential success of an exploration program.

Applied Subsurface Structural Geology
Houston, Texas (June 18-22) – Dr. James Helwig
The application of Structural Geology is becoming more and more critical, as one of the key components to unraveling an interpretation, particularly in a complex extensional or compressional tectonic setting. Finding oil and gas resources in complex tectonic areas requires the application of sound structural principles. Dr. Helwig, a leading expert in Structural Geology, presents these structural principles and techniques in the application of interpreting outcrop data and seismic sections and generating balanced cross sections as applied, regional geology and more specifically in prospect generation in compressional, extensional and strike-slip tectonic areas.

Don’t miss this opportunity to improve you knowledge of structural geology in order to assist your company in finding and developing more resources of oil and gas.

Principles of 3-D Seismic Interpretation
Houston, Texas (June 18-22) – Dr. Mangat Thapar
Costing less than a few pennies per barrel of oil, 3-D seismic surveys can be extremely prudent investments. 3-D seismic data not only reduces the risk of drilling exploration and development wells, but also can dramatically increase production from existing fields. The success of any exploration or development program, utilizing 3-D seismic data, is dependent upon accurate, three-dimensionally viable interpretations of the seismic data. The successful application of a 3-D seismic survey depends on the following principles of proper design, acquisition, processing, guarding against pitfalls, and utilization of available 3-D technologies for accurate and three dimensionally valid structural and stratigraphic interpretations.

Another exciting class taught by Dr. Mangat Thapar.

Below is our complete line-up of Public Courses for May, June and July. Please visit our website at www.scacompanies.com to view the entire 2007 Public Course listing.
