Carbonate Rock Physics Workshop: Are We There Yet?
San Antonio SEG Post-Convention Workshop

About the Workshop:
Traditional rock physics has focused mostly on clastic sedimentary rocks.
However, with carbonate reservoirs representing a large percentage of the
world’s remaining hydrocarbon reserves, much new advancement has been
made to either modify current clastic models or to develop new technology to
meet the problems and challenges unique to the carbonate rock property
modeling.
In this workshop, we would like to encourage discussions on carbonate rock
physics in the context of reservoir characterization and monitoring. Identifying
challenges, advancements, and coming to consensus about a way forward--
Where do we want to be? Are we there yet? Those are the big questions we
want answered in the unique world of carbonate rock physics.
