This is the monthly Carbonate Network e-mail archive. The latest monthly e-mail can be found at the base of the page. In months with no relevant news there will be no monthly e-mail.
The Carbonate Network thank everyone who contribute with carbonate related information and encourage you all to send me (or post in the discussion forum http://www.carbonet.net/forum/) any carbonate related information that may be of interest to The Carbonate Network members.
The Carbonate Network is grateful if you could be so kind as to help us advertise by distributing this flyer http://www.carbonet.net/flyer.pdf at carbonate related sessions at conferences and meetings you attend.
Best regards,
The Carbonate Network www.carbonet.net _________________ Bjarne Rafaelsen,

Dear scientist / student
Today we officially open The Carbonate Network homepage at www.carbonet.net. Here you will find:
- An on-line forum where discussions, news, excursions, courses, publications and more is posted
- A short presentation of the network members
- Carbonate related links
The aim with The Carbonate Network is to stimulate to an increased exchange of knowledge between carbonate researchers from different geological institutions and to form a forum where carbonate-related aspects can be discussed.
To receive a monthly e-mail from The Carbonate Network, please reply to this mail using "MONTHLY CARBONATE NETWORK EMAIL" in the heading.
To post messages in the Carbonet Forum you need to register. Go to www.carbonet.net/forum, click on "Announcements" and "How to register..." to learn how to register.
Please forward this e-mail to those you think may be interested in the network. _________________ Bjarne Rafaelsen,

Dear carbonate researchers.
Thank you for your interest in The Carbonate Network. The Carbonate Network is growing steadily and now have more than 40 members.
In the future this monthly e-mail will contain more carbonate-related news, but as we are in an early phase of the network building I will encourage you to help us by:
-Register at the Carbonet Forum (www.carbonet.net/forum) and post a message to check that you can communicate online with the other members -Spread the word about this network (by e-mail, links, distribute our flyer etc.)
-Fill in your membership form (unless you have already done this) and return the attached file
Upcoming meeting:
"Arctic Geology, Hydrocarbon Resources and Environmental Challenges 2004" takes place from May 24th-26th in Tromsø, Norway (see http://www.geologi.no/cgi-bin/geologi/imaker?id=1658). Here several members of the Carbonate Network will participate, and we hope to see you there. Some talks that may be of interest to carbonate researchers:
Tuesday 25th of May:
13.50-14.15 L. Stemmerik - ”30 years on: Arctic Palaeozoic stratigraphy, depositional evolution and hydrocarbon prospectivity.”
14.15-14.40 D. Hunt, G. Elvebakk, K. Hogstad, J. Pachel ”The heterogeneity of Upper Palaeozoic carbonates on the Loppa High and Reservoir Potential” _________________ Bjarne Rafaelsen,
